Man Arrested for Phone Snatching in HCM City After Fleeing to Dong Nai

On August 9, Thuong Tan Commune Police in Ho Chi Minh City detained 31-year-old Le Thanh Thai Tung for allegedly snatching property.

On August 1, V.T.L. was riding a motorbike on DT 746 Street. A man riding another motorbike approached her and snatched her phone.

The victim had placed the phone in the back pocket of her trousers. After committing the crime, the suspect sped away toward Thu Bien Bridge.

He then fled to Dong Nai City in an attempt to evade the police.

After receiving the report, Thuong Tan Commune Police coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Criminal Police Division to track him down.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect’s movements. On August 5, police arrested Le Thanh Thai Tung. The stolen phone was also recovered and returned to the victim.

At the police station, Tung admitted to committing the crime. Police are completing the case file for further legal proceedings.

Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant and protect their belongings.

People should avoid keeping phones, wallets or other valuables in easily accessible places.

In particular, they should avoid putting valuables in back pockets, shirt pockets or unsecured motorcycle baskets.

Motorcyclists are also advised to avoid using their phones while riding.
