A Woman Fined For Attacking A Relative On Social Media

A 42-year-old woman has been fined VND 7.5 million for posting content that insulted and defamed a relative on social media.

On May 29, Phuoc Long Ward Police announced that they had issued an administrative penalty against the woman.

She was found to have provided and shared information that infringed upon another person’s honor and dignity.

The fine was imposed under Government Decree No. 15, which regulates administrative sanctions in the fields of postal services, telecommunications, and information technology.

Earlier, local police received a complaint from a resident who reported that a relative had posted images and content on social media that damaged the complainant’s reputation.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that the woman had used her personal social media account to publish multiple posts targeting and insulting a relative living in the same locality.

Police said the incident stemmed from a family dispute. In addition to posting defamatory content, the woman allegedly used a relative’s social media account to comment and interact online in an effort to continue attacking the victim.

These actions negatively affected the victim’s reputation and credibility, Vietnam private detective agency.

During questioning, the woman admitted to her conduct. She also acknowledged that posting images and information accompanied by defamatory remarks about another person on social media is a violation of the law.
