Suspect arrested for setting fire to two cars and a pagoda gate in Cat Hai special zone, Hai Phong, Vietnam detective services.
Following a series of arson incidents that damaged two cars and the main gate of Sung Khanh pagoda in Cat Hai special zone on the same day, police authorities quickly launched an investigation and arrested the suspect later that night.
According to Hai Phong Police on February 16, authorities received reports on February 15 regarding two vehicle fires occurring in Luc Do village and in front of Hoa Hy communal house.
On the same day, at Sung Khanh Pagoda in Tien Loc village, an individual placed foam material at the main entrance and set it on fire, causing significant damage to the gate.
One door panel was burned at the lower section, while the remaining panels showed signs of fire damage and scorching.
Immediately after receiving directives from city police leadership, the Criminal Police Division coordinated with Cat Hai special zone police to implement investigative measures to identify and locate the suspect.
Initial findings identified the suspect as Vu Van Tan (born in 1989), a resident of Hoa Hy village, who is believed to be responsible for the arson incidents.
The Investigation Police Agency of Hai Phong City Police has temporarily detained Vu Van Tan for further investigation to clarify the motive and other related circumstances in accordance with the law.
