Illegal E-Bike Modding Ring Targeting Students in HCMC

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh city have uncovered a facility that specializes in modifying electric bikes, primarily for students—an activity that poses traffic safety risks and violates regulations.

During inspection, the facility was found to upgrade electric bicycles and e-scooters by increasing power output and altering designs to boost speed or change appearance.

Most customers were students—a group not permitted to operate high-speed or technically altered vehicles. Using such modified vehicles increases the risk of accidents due to limited riding skills.
